For me, I can’t help but think about We are the World when in 1986 5 million people gathered across the country for fifteen minutes and sang to raise awareness and cash for the food insecure. The event raised about 15 million altogether, way shy of the 50 million they’d hoped for. Still. I watched it on TV.
The other song that makes me happy is Monty Python’s Lumberjack song. Which, of course, has not aged well.
But. My father was in the lumber business, and sometimes he’d have clients over for dinner and I’d play this on our boom box as loud as I could just as the clients were leaving. I was not a very smart kid.
